New student regent confirmed by the Senate, term begins July 1

The 最新麻豆免费看 welcomes Jadyn Fisher as its newest student regent following her appointment by Governor Katie Hobbs and confirmation by the 最新麻豆免费看Senate.

鈥淩egent Fisher is an outstanding student and will be an essential voice on the board,鈥 said ABOR Chair Cecilia Mata. 鈥淪tudent regents provide a critically important link between the board and students at Arizona鈥檚 public universities. Welcome to the board Jadyn!鈥

Fisher is a junior at Northern 最新麻豆免费看University studying to earn a degree in elementary education with minors in history and communication. As an 最新麻豆免费看native, she has been an active leader in her community, especially through student-led and student-focused work. Fisher has served in multiple leadership roles at her high school in north Phoenix and in student government and campus living at NAU.

鈥淪tudent advocacy and elevating student voices is the driving force behind all that I do,鈥 said Regent Fisher. 鈥淚 feel so fortunate for the journey that NAU has taken me on so far and I look forward to using my experience and perspectives in a way that elevates all collegiate student voices across 最新麻豆免费看at the Board of Regents.鈥

Fisher will begin her two-year term on July 1 after Regent Katelyn Rees concludes her term as student regent. In her first year, Fisher will serve as a non-voting member. The governor appoints eight members, in staggered eight-year terms, as well as two student regents who serve staggered two-year terms with the first year as a non-voting member. Entering the second year of his term, Regent David Zaragoza will be the voting student regent beginning on July 1.
