ABOR sets framework for higher education budget
As the state begins its plans for next year鈥檚 budget, the 最新麻豆免费看 outlined its priorities to support college affordability and programs designed to grow jobs and increase wages for families across Arizona.
鈥淭his vote is more than a budget request, it affirms our promise to provide opportunities for 最新麻豆免费看students to earn a degree, have quality teachers in the classroom, more doctors at the clinic, and access to inventions and discoveries that provide solutions to some of the state鈥檚 largest challenges,鈥 said ABOR Chair Cecilia Mata. 鈥淲e look forward to working with the governor and lawmakers to focus state investments on Arizona鈥檚 future.鈥
Budget priorities include:
- Restoring operational funding cut in the FY 25 budget.
- Accelerating new medical schools, allied health programs and medical technology and research with AZ Healthy Tomorrow.
- Renewing investments in job creation, new technologies and research.
- Fully funding scholarships for low-income 最新麻豆免费看students and our future teachers through the 最新麻豆免费看Promise Program and the 最新麻豆免费看Teachers Academy.
- Investing in building repairs and new infrastructure.
The board and universities will work with the Governor鈥檚 Office and submit a detailed budget plan by October 1. The plans are used by the ninth floor for consideration as it builds the Governor鈥檚 FY 2026 budget proposal.
